Dennis Kucinich: The Next 'Bachelor'
Tuesday November 11, 2003
The only bachelor running for president has an idea for a new reality TV show: a competition to help him find a first lady.
"As a bachelor, I get a chance to fantasize about my first lady," Ohio Democrat Dennis Kucinich ventured during a recent presidential debate. "Maybe Fox would like to sponsor a national contest or something. . . . I would certainly want a dynamic, outspoken woman who was fearless in her desire for peace in the world, for universal single-payer health care and for a full-employment economy. If you're out there, call me!"
"Talk about Fear Factor," quipped Dana Milbank of the Washington Post.
To help Kucinich in his quest for the perfect mate, a political Web site, PoliticsNH.com, has begun accepting personal ads for the 57-year-old presidential hopeful as part of a contest titled "Who Wants To Be a First Lady: The Search for Mrs. Kucinich." So far, about two dozen brave women have put their names forward.
PoliticsNH.com says it plans to have its readers vote on the ideal mate for Kucinich, and if he agrees, it will fly the lucky lady to New Hampshire and treat the couple to dinner.
