Laura Bush Jokes With Jay Leno
Thursday May 20, 2004
First Lady Laura Bush offered a revealing glimpse into her relationship with her husband during an appearance on the "Tonight Show With Jay Leno."
She said Barbara Bush, her mother-in-law, once warned her to "never criticize George's speeches." She took the advice "until one night we were driving into our driveway and he said, 'Tell me the truth. How was my speech?' And I said, 'Well, it wasn't that good.' And with that he drove into ... the garage wall," she said.
There are, of course, only two conclusions that can be drawn from this anecdote. Either Bush's skin is much thinner than we've been led to believe, or his drinking problem is much worse than we've been led to believe.
